Moving iGerry to SSL

This week, I’ve decided to convert my site,, to HTTPS by using SSL certificates from Let’s Encrypt. Let’s Encrypt provides free SSL certificates to web site owners. Getting an SSL certificate from Let’s Encrypt is just one part of the whole process of having a site support HTTPS connections.

Since I’m running a WordPress site, I had to first convert URL references on my site which still use HTTP to start using HTTPS. I found a useful plugin called Better Search and Replace to help me find URL’s on my site and convert the links to HTTPS.

To make sure that visitors to iGerry use an encrypted HTTPS protocol connection, I’ve redirected incoming HTTP url’s to HTTPS url’s.

After I’ve got everthing working, I’ve finally updated my Google Analytics and Search Console configurations to start using the new HTTPS site.
