Acer Iconia Tab A500 now sold in the Philippines
This Android Honeycomb tablet (16GB version) is now available for Php 21,999. The specifications initially caught my eye last year when I first read about it. The Acer Iconia Tab A500 (WiFi edition) comes in two varieties — 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. The 32GB version costs about Php 23,800+. It’s really got value in terms of price and specifications if you compare it with the other Android tablets being offered locally. And this is the first Android tablet that comes with Android Honeycomb that is available locally.
The Acer Iconia Tab A500 has a 10.1-inch 1280×800 pixel multi-touch capacitive display capable of display 262K colors. Sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope and proximity. It is powered by a dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and has 1GB of RAM.
It’s a WiFi only version (I’d love to see Acer sell one with 3G) but it comes equipped with a GPS according to the specs. Something you don’t normally see in other WiFi only tablets. I hope it’s a trend ‘coz it comes handy if used as a navigation device.
The Acer Iconia Tab A500 also comes with bluetooth, a microSD slot (up to 32GB is supported). For multimedia, it has a 5-megapixel autofocus primary camera with LED flash and a front facing camera that comes in handy for making those wifi enabled Skype video calls. It has an HDMI port for connecting it to a larger display — great for those large screen LED Television sets.
