Samsung Galaxy S II in the Philippines (Price & Date)
I visited the Samsung shop at the mall today and got the information that the Samsung Galaxy S II Android powered mobile phone will be available starting June 23 at a Php 30,000 price tag. The Samsung Galaxy S II uses a dual-core 1.2Ghz ARM CPU. It has quad band GSM and quadband 3G.
It sports a 4.3-inch 480×800 Super AMOLED Plus touch screen capable of 16M colors Gorilla Glass display that is multi-touch capable. The Samsung Galaxy S II has an 8-megapixel autofocus primary camera with LED flash able to shoot video at 1080p@30fps. The secondary has a 2-megapixel resolution. To add to it’s audio and video capabilities it also has a stereo FM radio with RDS.
It is loaded with Android version 2.3 aka Gingerbread. It also has the usual things you’d expect from a truly connected phone — 3G, HSDPA, 21Mbps, HSUPA 5.76Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, EDGE, GPRS, Bluetooth v3.0 and GPS with A-GPS support.
Memory-wise there is a 16GB and 32GB internal storage version. I’m hoping that the 30,000 peso price tag is for the 32GB version, I’ll just have to wait and see on June 23. The RAM is 1-Gigabyte which should be enough for running several apps all at once w/o much degradation.
If you need more memory, you can plug into the card slot a microSD of up to 32GB. To top off the “essentials” there’s an accelerometer sensor, proximity sensor and gyroscope sensor.
Can’t wait to try it out on June 23. 😉
Update: You can now pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S II from Globe Telecoms.
Update: Samsung shop new availability date now pushed to 3rd week of July.
